My Six Steps To A Perfect Pedicure
When you have been pounding your feet all day there is nothing like taking some time out to give yourself a little pampering and take some ‘me’ time. My six steps to a perfect pedicure will make you feel better, look good and save you some cash. I love my red stilettos and do this routine all the time to make sure they look their best
Step One: Get some cotton wool balls and nail varnish remover and scrub off all the old colour on your nails, get right into the corners and around the cuticles to ensure every last bit is removed. I find this appeals to my perfectionist nature and leaves a blank canvass for my artwork.
Step Two: Ah, bliss time, get a bowl of warm water and place your feet into it, pick up a magazine and let your pinkies soak for twenty minutes. Once the skin is softened use a coarse sponge to rub your feet to get rid of any dead skin cells and leave your feet feeling fresh and clean.
Step Three: Use a good quality foot moisturiser, ensure it is for feet as there are moisturisers for different parts of your body. Take your time to work the lotion into your feet, the deeper it goes into the skin the more effective it will be.
Step Four; Get your nails ready. Using a nail stick gently push back the cuticles, this is the skin around the top of the nail, the aim is to get a smooth crescent shape which will make your nails look longer without being craggy. Once you have done this to your satisfaction use some nail clippers or scissors to trim the nails, remember to only cut straight across and not down the sides as this could lead to ingrowing nails which are very painful. After you have cut the nails use a file to get the edges nice and smooth, file in one direction only to avoid splits.
Step Five; Further prepare the nails by employing a buffer which will give you a super smooth, shiny surface upon which to paint the nail varnish. The smoother the nail is the better the adhesion will be so avoiding ripples and cracks in the finished nail.
Step Six; Apply the colour. Always use a toe nail base coat to increase the adhesion, it works like the undercoat that house painters use forming a better surface for the top coat to stick to. Make sure you allow the base coat to dry properly or the top layer will not set properly and ruin the whole effect. Once it has dried apply the top coat. To get the best finish use the three stroke method for applying the base and top coat which is load the brush sparingly and paint one stroke down the center of the nail and then a stroke either side. Carefully remove any varnish from the surrounding skin with a finger nail or nail stick.
When you want to wear your stiletto heel shoes follow these six regular steps and you can make your feet look gorgeous and like you have had a professional pedicure.
