Why Liquid Dieting Is Harmful

Liquid diets are popular means for rapid weightloss. But do you know the truth about them?

It is not good to take liquid diets continually for many days. You may burn a little bit of fat, but you will also burn muscles of your body.

Your body will not get sufficient amount of energy to carry on all its operations. Do you know what will happen in such cases?

The body will not have any other option but to burn fat first and then the muscles in order to get energy. So you will lose muscles.

When you start eating solid food again, your body is likely to gain back the weight again which it lost. However, the muscles are not so easy to gain back.

When you lose muscles, you will become weaker. You have to do regular exercises in order to gain back the muscles.

As muscle loss equals weakness, so you are causing a lot of harm to your body by using liquid diets.

You will get very low amount of calories from liquid diets – in the range of 400 to 800 calories per day. Most people are not accustomed to such low calorie intake.

Drastic reduction in calories might cause a lot of unwanted side effects. Thus it is better if you try to lose weight slowly and steadily and not aim for overnight weight loss.

The major problems of liquid diets which we discussed above are as follows – muscle tissue loss, body weakness, difficulty in keeping the weight off, drastic reduction in calories.

You might lose weight initially, but may struggle to keep it off after some time. You cannot remain on liquid diets forever. You have to come back to solid foods again.

Once you start eating solid foods, it can get pretty difficult to keep the weight from coming back again. Sometimes, you may gain back more weight than your original weight.

Hence, liquid dieting is not a good quick weight loss plan and should be avoided. These temporary solutions will cause muscle loss more than real fat loss. They can also cause metabolic rate to drop.

Another big problem with liquid diets is that you cannot continue them for very long periods of time. If you do so, then serious health issues might arise.

Prolonged use of such diets can cause kidney as well as lung problems. Kidneys and lungs are very important organs of your body and deserve utmost care.

Final verdict is that liquid dieting is not a good option for long term weight loss. It is better to try out a fast weight loss program which is healthy at the same time.
